The holidays are a wonderful time of joy and relaxation, and sometimes stressful time of year. We often indulge in foods and activities we wouldn’t normally. How do you usually feel during the holidays? Do you feel strong and energetic or do you feel drained and sluggish? The delicious but junk-filled foods and the emotional and physical stress of the holidays can really take a toll on our holiday cheer!

Healthy eating over the festive season can be challenging as there is often a lot more food and alcohol around, not to mention the extra social events there are to attend.

Here simple tips to stay healthy throughout this Holiday Season:

· Drink a lot of water

· Eat before the party

· Exercise and stay mindful

· Eat more veggies and low-carb food

· Create a dessert limit for yourself

The best thing you can do to stay on track is to pay attention to what you eat and how much of it. No need to obsess over calories. Staying focused and mindful will help you to enjoy a few thoughtfully planned treats without going over-board.

It is important to remember that this is a time to relax with loved ones and delicious food is part of the enjoyment. If you are having a few extra bits and pieces, so be it! Make sure you just relax and enjoy it, without any guilt. Abandon these negative voices in your head and give yourself permission to enjoy the indulgence guilt-free who cares if you put on an extra kg of weight, there are more important things in life to worry about. Balance this out with getting back on track the next morning.
